Pregnancy calculator
2In order to best prepare for the next few months and the upcoming birth, it is important to know which week of pregnancy you are currently in. You have the option of calculating the week of pregnancy yourself or using a practical SSW calculator.
How to use the pregnancy calculator
The pregnancy calculator needs the first day of your last period to calculate your current week of pregnancy. Simply enter this date into the pregnancy calculator.
Then select the length of your cycle. If you don't know the exact length of your cycle, you can use the default 28 days.
Then click on "Calculate now" and the pregnancy calculator will show you your current week of pregnancy.

Example of how to use the pregnancy calculator
If the first day of your last period was 15.04.2025 and your cycle is 28 days, enter these dates into the pregnancy calculator and start the calculation.
The result: The number 2 appears in the "Current week of pregnancy" column, which means you are in the second week of pregnancy. The pregnancy calculator also shows you other helpful information:
-
the expected date of birth
-
the start of your maternity leave
In our example, the expected date of birth is 21.01.2026. Maternity leave would therefore start on 10.12.2025.

Important note
Although the pregnancy calculator provides valuable information, it is not a substitute for medical care. As soon as you find out that you are pregnant, you should make an appointment with your gynecologist or midwife as soon as possible to have important initial examinations carried out.

How to calculate your week of pregnancy yourself
You can also determine your current week of pregnancy yourself. The first day of your last period is important for this. It is best to enter this date in your calendar and count the weeks up to today.
Example:If the first day of your last period was 15.04.2025 and today is 01.06.2025, then seven weeks have passed. You are therefore in the seventh week of pregnancy. This type of calculation is based on the so-called Naegele rule.

Regardless of whether you are planning a pregnancy or are already pregnant, it is worth keeping track of your cycle and recording important dates such as the start of your last period. This information not only makes it easier to use a pregnancy calculator, but is also very important for your doctor or midwife.
Medical professionals determine the current week of pregnancy either by calendar calculations or by ultrasound. The size of the embryo provides information about its development and helps to determine the exact week of pregnancy.
